5. What Can be Done?

Raising awareness about the multiple uses of chemicals such as pseudoephedrine, thiodiglycol, and isopropanol requires raising awareness within each generation of scientists and citizens. Each of us has a role to play in societal decisions about the use, regulation, and control of chemicals that could cause harm to people or the environment. Awareness can be raised through the use of educational materials such as this web site, the development of codes of ethics and conduct, and international conventions such as the Chemical Weapons Convention.  However, many questions remain about the most effective approaches to tackling these difficult issues.
